The ignition system consists of the following elements:
A) distributor;
b) ignition coil;
V) spark plug;
G) breaker
Depending on the model, the Golf and Jetta have different ignition systems.
The 1.6 liter engine up to 12.84 has a classic ignition system. From 1.85, the 1.6l and 1.8l engines are designated with the letters GU, EU, GX KR, RH and are equipped as standard with TSZ-H transistorized ignition systems.
Engines designated RD, RG, PL and HT have transistorized ignition systems supplemented with VEZ control equipment.
In engines equipped with VW-treated Digifant ignition and fuel injection systems, VEZ works in conjunction with the fuel injection control system. Engines with Digifant equipment are marked with the letters PE, PB, IP in relation to 1H.
