The ignition system consists of the following elements:
a) ignition distributor;
b) ignition coil;
c) spark plugs;
d) breaker
Depending on the model, Golf and Jetta vehicles are equipped with different ignition systems.
The 1.6 l engine up to 12.84 has a classic ignition system. Starting from 1.85, the 1.6 l and 1.8 l engines are designated by the letters GU, EU, GX KR, RH and are serially equipped with transistor ignition systems TSZ-H.
Engines designated with the letters RD, RG, PL and HT have transistor ignition systems supplemented by VEZ control equipment.
In engines equipped with VW-treated Digifant ignition and fuel injection systems, VEZ works together with the fuel injection control system. Engines with Digifant equipment are designated with the letters PE, PB, IP in relation to 1H.
