Warm up the engine (oil temperature not less than 60°C).
Verify that there are no fault codes stored in the controller's memory. Switch off the ignition. Disconnect the electro-hydraulic pilot pressure regulator connector. Attach a test cord to the terminals of the regulator block and the connecting block 1 (pic. 2-208) VAG 1315 A / 1 and adapter wires.
Connect the tester to the adapter wires. Turn on the ignition. At the same time, the tester (in ammeter mode) should show a positive voltage control current of 90-110 mA. Disconnect the exhaust oxygen sensor connector. Disconnect the coolant temperature sensor connector and connect a 2.5 kΩ resistor to the sensor block terminals.
Start the engine at idle. The control current should settle within 12-35 mA for about 6-9 s, and then decrease to 14-18 mA. Fully open, then close the throttle valve. In this case, the control current should briefly increase. Switch off the ignition.
