Make sure that there are no fault codes stored in the controller memory. Turn off the ignition. Disconnect the connector of the electro-hydraulic control pressure regulator. Connect the test cord 1 to the terminals of the regulator block and the connecting block (fig. 2-208) VAG 1315 A/1 and adapter wires.

Connect the tester to the transition wires. Turn on the ignition. In this case, the tester (in ammeter mode) should show a positive voltage control current of 90-110 mA. Disconnect the exhaust gas oxygen sensor connector. Disconnect the coolant temperature sensor connector and connect a 2.5 kOhm resistor to the sensor connector terminals.
Start the engine at idle speed. The control current should be within 12-35 mA for about 6-9 s, and then decrease to 14-18 mA. Fully open, then close the throttle valve. In this case, the control current should increase briefly. Turn off the ignition.
