Adjusting the air flow meter potentiometer (VW Passat B4)

Turn off ignition. Connect test lead VAG 1591 (pos. 4 fig. 2-205) to the terminals of the potentiometer and the junction block. Connect the digital voltmeter to blocks "1" and "3" of the test cord. Turn on the ignition. The voltmeter should show a voltage of 4.3-5.3 V.



Turn off the ignition. Connect the voltmeter to terminals "2" and "3" of the test cord. Start the engine at idle speed. The voltage on the voltmeter should be within 0.5-0.7 V. If the voltage is outside the specified limits, check the tightness of the air tract from the air flow meter to the engine cylinder head. If necessary, adjust the voltage by turning the adjusting screw 5. After completing the adjustment, lock the adjusting screw with silicone glue.
