Disconnect the 2-pin or 4-pin sensor connector.
Connect the voltmeter to the terminals of the 2-pin connector.
On late production vehicles, connect a voltmeter to terminals "2" (red and white wire) and "1" (brown wire) 4-pin connector. Start the engine at idle speed. In both cases, the voltmeter should show the battery voltage.
