The diesel engine of the Golf/Vento models is designed so that no diesel smoke is visible during normal operation. The smell of diesel is reduced further by the passage of the catalyst. Despite this, as part of the control, the content of soot in the exhaust gases is checked by a service station ««Volkswagen».
The so-called turbidity measurement gives an answer to the question of whether the formation of smoke is still within acceptable limits. Heavy smoke usually means either poor engine control or bad injectors or engine wear.
