Clean the main bearing sockets in the engine cylinder block, insert the bearings with the oil supply groove into the sockets so that their projections fit into the grooves (see figure 83). Lubricate the bearings generously with engine oil.

Place both thrust half rings in the central bearing. The oil supply grooves should be directed towards the cylinder block. Carefully place the crankshaft in the liners. If the connecting rods remain in the cylinders, their lower heads should be brought to the connecting rod journals.

Insert the lower liners into the corresponding bearing caps with the mounting protrusions in the grooves, generously lubricate the friction surfaces with engine oil. Install both remaining thrust half rings into the central cap, lubricate them. The oil grooves of the half rings should face the crankshaft.

Install the crankshaft caps and tap them with a rubber or plastic hammer. Pay attention to the markings on the caps. They indicate their position during installation.

Screw in the cap bolts a few turns, starting from the central bearing. The main bearing bolts are finally tightened to a torque of 65 Nm. After tightening the bolts, turn the crankshaft several times to check for jamming.

If there is jamming, then release the bearing caps one by one and, by turning the shaft, find the cause of the jamming and eliminate it (usually it is dirt on the bearing and under it, less often it is an error during shaft grinding or a bearing defect).

Check the crankshaft end clearance again (see figure 81).

Install the pistons and connecting rods as described above. Install both crankshaft oil seals (see below).

Press the toothed pulley onto the crankshaft, lay the toothed belt and install the belt cover.

Install the flywheel using new bolts. Lubricate the threads of the bolts with a locking compound for threaded connections "D6". The tightening torque for bolts with a flange is 100 Nm, and without a flange - 75 Nm. To lock the shaft, you can use a piece of wood, which is installed between the crankshaft crank and the cylinder block wall.

Install the clutch assemblies and components using the alignment marks as a guide. The clutch driven disc must be centered (chapter). Tighten the bolts evenly "crosswise" to a torque of 25 Nm.

Install the oil pump (chapter) and using sealant, a new oil pan gasket. Tighten the oil pan mounting bolts to 20 Nm.

Perform all other operations in the reverse order of disassembly.
