Installing the machine on stands (VW Transporter T4)

When performing many jobs, the machine must be placed on stands or raised high. In factories, the machine is usually lifted with a lifting platform. However, it can also be lifted with a machine or factory jack. The machine can be lifted by installing the jack only at the points indicated in the drawings.

When working under a vehicle, if it is not on a lifting platform, place it on supports.

Warning! Never work under a machine that is not securely secured.

1. Jacks for lifting the machine must be installed only at the points indicated below. Otherwise, deformation of the machine cannot be avoided.



2. In front, under the cross beam.



3. At the rear, under the rear steering knuckle support.



4. Machines with a short base can also be raised at the support points on the reinforcement sheet of the longitudinal beam. In any case, the machine must not be loaded.





5. The supports for the side jack are marked on the lower side member with imprints (arrows).

Caution! When working from the side of the sliding door, make sure that the machine jack does not grab the sliding door.

6. On a truck, install a jack at the rear under the steering knuckle support strut (triangular marking).

7. Wheels that remain on the surface when lifted should be secured with wedges to prevent them from rolling forward or backward. Do not rely solely on the tightened handbrake, which may become loose during certain operations.

8. Raise the machine on a level, hard surface.

Caution! If the vehicle is to be lifted on soft ground, place wide boards under the jack and stands to distribute the weight over the overall surface.

9. To avoid damage to the body, it is recommended to place rubber or wood between the jack and the body.

10. The machine should only be lifted when unloaded.

Warning! Never lift or support the vehicle by the engine, gearbox, front or rear axle. Never start the engine on a raised vehicle or engage a gear if at least one drive wheel rests on the road.
