Turn the camshaft so that the mark "A" on the outside of the toothed pulley is in line with the projection shown in Fig. 93. Turn the camshaft very slowly.

After setting the marks, check the valves of the first cylinder to see if the piston is at TDC of the compression stroke. Both valves of the first cylinder should be closed.
In this position, carefully place the toothed belt on the toothed pulleys of the camshaft, crankshaft and fluid pump shaft, preventing the pulleys from turning on the shafts, then tighten the belt.

Turn the crankshaft several times and make sure that both marks coincide when the piston of the first cylinder is again at TDC of the compression stroke. Turn the crankshaft so that the notch on the pulley is in the middle of the plate located above the pulley. There is a protrusion on the plate, provided with the symbol "O" (corresponding to TDC). The left projection is used to set the ignition timing. The crankshaft can be turned with a special key by the toothed pulley mounting bolts.
