The belt is designed for a run of 100,000 km, unless, of course, it does not have mechanical damage by this time. In cases where the toothed belt has been replaced, or the fluid pump has been removed, the timing must be checked. If the toothed belt is reused, it must not be contaminated with oil. It is also unacceptable to twist the toothed belt. Toothed belt tension is adjusted by moving it to the left or right with the fluid pump housing screwdriver. In this case, the tightening of the pump mounting bolts must first be loosened.
If the belt has failed on the way and this is due to the cutting of 1 or 2 of its teeth, you can get to the house using the following method - remove the belt as described below, cut it lengthwise into two rings of the same width. Move them in a circle relative to each other so that the damaged place of one ring coincides with the serviceable one of the other.
Reinstall both rings with their uncut sides facing each other. Procedure for removing the belt:
Remove the belt guard and loosen the V-belt by moving the alternator on the bracket.
Remove the V-belt.
Loosen the bolts securing the V-belt pulley and remove it.
Remove the top and bottom toothed belt guards.
Drain the liquid from the cooling system (see section) and loosen the coolant pump crankcase bolts just enough to turn the nuts recessed into the special sockets.
Rotate the pump housing, loosen the tension and remove the toothed belt. All the described operations are also performed when the timing mechanism drive needs to be repaired. In this case, also unscrew and remove the toothed pulley from the camshaft.
When installing the toothed belt, you must remember the alignment marks. Then you should adjust the tension of the toothed belt. To do this, insert a screwdriver into the groove of the pump housing (pic. 91) and install the pump so that the belt can be twisted 90°with your fingers (in the place shown in Fig. 92). In this position, tighten the pump mounting bolts. The bolts securing the toothed pulley to the camshaft are tightened to a torque of 80 Nm, and the bolts securing the V-belt pulley to a torque of 20 Nm. Fill the cooling system with coolant.
The V-belt must be tensioned so that its deflection when pressed with a finger does not exceed 10-15 mm. After adjusting the tension, tighten the alternator mounting bolts.
