Drain the engine oil. If the oil has not been used for a very long time, it can be collected for reuse. Loosen the alternator mounting and remove the V-belt.
Remove the upper belt cover (rice. 95). Loosen the bolts securing the pulley to the crankshaft. To do this, engage a gear and apply the handbrake to keep the shaft stationary. Remove the pulley.
Remove the lower belt cover.
Loosen the coolant pump. By moving the pump housing with a screwdriver (see fig. 91), loosen the belt tension and remove it. Remove the oil pan. Loosen the bolts securing the stuffing box cover and remove it together with the gasket. There is a screw plug on the inside of the cover that needs to be inspected. Replace the damaged plug. Screw the plug back into place before installing.
Remove seal from cover (if you replace it).
Remove the bolts securing the oil pump to the cylinder block, remove the chain from the sprocket on the crankshaft and the pump together with the chain.
The pump is installed in the reverse order. To check the correct chain tension, first block the pump on the cylinder block, and then check the chain tension with your finger (pic. 96).
The chain should sag by 1.5-2 mm (size «A»). If the tension does not fit within the recommended limits, it is necessary to loosen the pump mounting bolts, move it and fix it again. Once again check the tension, finally tighten the bolts securing the pump to a torque of 20 Nm. Install cover with new seal (what is desirable) and gasket and tighten the bolts to 10 Nm. The method for setting and adjusting the toothed belt tension has been described above.
