Lubricate the valve stems with clean engine oil and install them in their respective guide bushings.
Install the valve stem seals on the valve stems using the mandrel shown in fig. 59, as follows:
- put a plastic sleeve 1 of the mandrel on the valve stem;
- put the oil deflector cap 2 on the valve stem lubricated with clean engine oil;
- lower mandrel 3 onto the cap and carefully push it onto the stem.
Attempting to install the cap without using a mandrel may result in damage to the cap, resulting in increased oil consumption.
Reinstall valves and valve springs.
Install the upper spring plates. Reinforce the spring compressor (see fig. 44). When, after compression of the spring, the end of the valve stem appears above the plate, insert crackers into the annular groove (with tongs) and slowly remove the tool.
Use a plastic mallet to hit the end of the valve stem several times. This will cause crackers to fall out if they were installed incorrectly. Cover the valve with a rag to hold loose parts.
Install pushrods with adjusting washers in their places.
Install the camshaft and toothed pulley as shown described here.
Take the camshaft oil seal and determine which side its working edge is on. It should point towards the engine flywheel. Lubricate the outer part of the oil seal and the neck of the shaft with engine oil and install the oil seal using a mandrel or a piece of pipe of a suitable diameter.
Install the block head as described in the next chapter.
Establish a back casing of a gear belt. Mounting bolts 5.6 (see fig. 40) should be tightened to the recommended torque.
Install the toothed pulley. Tighten the fixing bolts to 80 Nm.
Install the intake and exhaust manifolds, if removed, replacing their gaskets.
