For the correct installation of the head of the block, it is necessary in the holes shown in fig. 60, screw in two dowel pins (into holes 8, 10 on the bolt tightening diagram - see fig. 38). If you don't have these pins (number 3070), then you can use two hairpins. At one end, the studs must be cut (like a hacksaw for metal) slot for a screwdriver.
Install the block head to the engine block.
Screw by hand the remaining 8 bolts of the head of the block. Loosen both dowel pins with a screwdriver (or hairpins) and screw the bolts in their place.
Proceed to tighten the head bolts in the following sequence (see fig. 38). We remind you that a special multi-faceted socket wrench is required for this operation, using a different tool will damage the bolt heads. Tighten as follows:
- Initially, tighten all bolts to a torque of 40 Nm.
- In the same sequence, repeat the tightening, but already with a torque of 60 Nm.
- In the last phase, in the same sequence, tighten each bolt by half a turn of the wrench (or twice a quarter turn).
- The bolts must not be tightened after a trial run of the vehicle.
