Cylinder head (VW Tiguan 1)

Instructions: Replace the cylinder head mounting bolts. During installation, replace the self-locking nuts, bolts/screws that are tightened with additional tightening, as well as the sealing rings, lip seals and gaskets. Remove the plastic linings protecting the open valves only immediately before installing the cylinder head. When replacing the cylinder head or cylinder head gasket, drain the old coolant and fill it with new coolant.

• 1 - Cylinder head gasket, replace, note installation position: part number facing the cylinder head
• 2 - Bolt, 25 Nm
• 3 - Cargo eye
• 4 - Bolt
• 5 - Cylinder head
• 6 - Cylinder head mounting bolt, replace, follow sequence when loosening and tightening
• 7 - O-ring, replace, lubricate with engine oil
• 8 - Plug, 5 Nm, with ball head for engine casing
• 9 - Cover with sealing gasket
• 10 - O-ring, replace, lubricate with engine oil
• 11 - Plug
• 12 - Bracket
• 13 - Bolt, 9 Nm
• 14 - Heat-protective casing
• 15 - Bolt, 20 Nm
• 16 - Bolt, 20 Nm
• 17 - To the air intake/turbocharger sleeve
• 18 - Vapor-air lock removal nipple
• 19 - O-ring round section, not a spare part
• 20 - Gasket, not a spare part
• 21 - Engine casing
• 22 - Bolt
• 23 - Engine crankcase ventilation, observe the sequence when tightening
• 24 - To the intake manifold
• 25 - Gasket, not a spare part
• 26 - Gasket, replace if damaged
• 27 - Vacuum pump
• 28 - Bolt
• 29 - 9 Nm, not installed on Tiguan
• 30 - Secondary air supply control valve "N112", not installed on Tiguan
• 31 - Gasket, not installed on Tiguan
• 32 - Mounting plate
• 33 - Bolt, 9 Nm
• 34 - Fitting
• 35 - O-ring, replace, moisten with refrigerant
• 36 - Bolt, 25 Nm
• 37 - Cargo eye
• 38 - Bolt, 9 Nm
• 39 - Hall sensor "G40"
• 40 - Partition

Tighten the engine crankcase ventilation bolts in sequence -1...10- with a torque of 11 Nm.

Weakening of the cylinder head

Unscrew the bolts "arrows". Loosen the cylinder head bolts in the sequence

Cylinder Head - Bolt Tightening Sequence

Tighten the cylinder head bolts in the sequence -1...5- as follows.

• 1. Pre-tighten with a torque wrench to 40 Nm.
• 2. Tighten 90° further with a rigid wrench.
• 3. Tighten 90° further with a rigid wrench.
• 4. Pre-tighten the arrow bolts to a torque of 3 Nm.
• 5. Tighten the arrow bolts by 90° using a hard wrench.

Checking the curvature of the cylinder head mating plane

Max. permissible curvature of the mating plane: 0.05 mm.
