The notch on the damper should be opposite the arrow mark on the bottom cover of the chain drives. The marks -1- on the camshafts must point upwards. Remove the lower timing chain cover.
Attention: The control valve has a left-hand thread.
Remove control valve using tool -T10352- (engine designation CCZB: tool -T10352/1-) in the direction of -arrows-.
Remove screws -arrows- and remove crankshaft support rail.
Press chain tensioner for oil pump in -direction of arrow- and secure with locking pin -T40011-. Remove oil pump chain tensioner -1-. Remove the oil pump drive chain.
Use a suitable screwdriver to lift the locking wedge of the tensioner in -direction of the arrow 1-, press the tensioning plate of the timing chain in -direction of the arrow 2- and secure with the locking pin -T40011-.
Remove chain tensioner -2-.
Note The intake camshaft runs in the direction of engine rotation.
Remove drive chain.
Installation
The camshaft drive chain damper has been removed. Tension bar chain tensioner removed.
Instructions: The following actions should be carried out in one working step, this requires 2 mechanics. Position the colored links of the drive chain according to the marks on the sprockets. Hold the key until the tension bar is installed.
Check the TDC position of the crankshaft.
Lay the drive chain on the exhaust camshaft. Place the drive chain on the crankshaft. Turn inlet camshaft with wrench in -direction of arrow- and fit drive chain.
Fit drive chain tensioning bar and tighten bolt -2-. Attach ramp for crankshaft bearings and screw in bolts -arrows- by hand. Remove locking pin -T40011- from chain tensioner. Tighten bolts -arrows- for crankshaft support. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
