It is necessary to store hydraulic lifters by laying them on the surface in contact with the cams.
Hydraulic lifters are replaced as a set, as they are not subject to adjustment.
Noise in the hydraulic lifters at the time of starting the engine is normal. However, in case of too much valve knock, check the hydraulic lifters as follows:
- Start the engine and let it run until the electric fan turns on.
- Increase the speed to 2500 rpm for 2 minutes. If the valves are very knocking, you need to look for a damaged hydraulic compensator. To do this, remove the valve cover and turn the crankshaft so that the cam above the tappet to be checked is directed upwards.
- Press the pusher with a wooden or plastic wedge, as shown in fig. 61. If the gap of the pusher (before valve opening) exceeds 0.1 mm, it must be replaced.
