Injector defects can also be found by loosening the union nuts of the high pressure fuel lines while the engine is idling at high engine speeds. If the crankshaft speed does not change after loosening the union nut, this indicates a defect in the injector. You can check the injector with a pressure gauge (workshop work).
The first signs of injector malfunction are as follows:
- No flashes.
- Knocking in one or more cylinders.
- Engine overheating.
- Loss of engine power.
- Excessively strong black smoke from the exhaust.
- High fuel consumption.
Clean the high pressure fuel lines with a cleaning agent.
Remove the high-pressure fuel lines as a set, for which loosen the union nuts with an open wrench, for example, HAZET4560.
Attention: Do not change the shape of the bends.
All engines except supercharged engines: remove the injectors using a socket wrench SW 27, eg HAZET4555.
Supercharged diesel engine: unscrew the injector mounting brackets from the support brackets and remove the injectors.
Remove the heat shield seal from the nozzle hole.
Installation
Be sure to install a new heat shield seal. The recess in the gasket must point upwards, with the arrow pointing towards the cylinder head.
All engines except supercharged engines: Tighten injectors to 70 Nm.
Supercharged diesel engine: Insert the injectors and tighten the injector retaining clips to 20 Nm.
Tighten high pressure fuel lines to 25 Nm.
