To avoid malfunctions during vehicle operation, it is necessary to remove water from the fuel filter every 15,000 km and replace it every 30,000 km.

Caution: Make sure that no fuel comes into contact with the coolant hoses. If necessary, clean the hoses immediately and replace any damaged hoses.

Removal water

The figure shows the top view of the fuel filter.

The figure shows the top view of the fuel filter.
1 - fuel supply from the fuel tank;
2 — fuel supply to the high-pressure fuel pump;
3 — return fuel line from the high-pressure fuel pump;
4 - return fuel line to the fuel tank (indicated by an arrow).

Pull clamp "A" to the side and pull the regulating valve "B" with the fuel lines connected to it upwards from the filter.

Open the water drain valve "C" at the bottom of the filter and drain approximately 100 cm³ of liquid into a container placed underneath.

Reinsert the adjustment valve into the filter and secure it with the clamp.

Tighten the water drain valve to 10 Nm.

Check the fuel system for leaks. To do this, start the engine and let it idle. After pressing the gas pedal several times, fuel should flow to the high-pressure fuel pump through a transparent fuel line without air bubbles.

Filter replacement

Fuel lines 1 and 2 should be cleaned from the outside and disconnected from the filter, after first cutting the clamping clips with side cutters.

Remove clamp 5 and pull the control valve with the fuel lines connected to it upwards from the filter.

Unscrew the fuel filter together with the bracket.

Move the bracket to the new filter.

Connect the fuel lines to the filter and secure them with clamps tightened with a screw. Do not mix up the fuel supply and return fittings. The arrows on the filter show the direction of fuel flow.

Insert the control valve with a new sealing ring, insert clamp 5 from the side.

Check the fuel system for leaks. To do this, start the engine and let it idle. After pressing the gas pedal several times, fuel should flow to the high-pressure fuel pump through a transparent fuel line without air bubbles.
