Figure 214. Timing drive and high-pressure fuel pump (additionally, the engine casings are shown at the top, which have a design with a fully enclosed toothed belt): 1, 2 - bolts (10 Nm); 3 - tensioner roller; 4 - nuts (45 Nm); 5 - V-belt; 6 - bolt (20 Nm); 7 - pulley; 8 - vibration damper; 9 - bolt (M12, M14); 10 - toothed pulley of the crankshaft; 11 - bolt (45 Nm); 12 - intermediate shaft toothed pulley; 13 - fuel injection pump toothed pulley; 14 - nuts and bolts; 15 - toothed belt; 16 - fuel injection pump bracket; 17 - fuse; 18 - Fuel injection pump; A - bolt (10 Nm); B - rear timing belt cover; B - upper casing; G - lower toothed belt casing; D - bolt (10 Nm); E - bolt (20 Nm)
Their use is explained by the need to place the intermediate shaft pulley closer to the engine body, the shape of the fuel injection pump bracket was flatter. This should be taken into account when replacing the toothed pulley.
It should be remembered that a special device is required to set the valve timing, without which it is impossible to start work. Incorrect installation of the camshaft in relation to the crankshaft can lead to serious engine damage. A special device is also required to adjust the tension of the toothed belt. The service life of the toothed belt is 100,000 km, if it has not been damaged earlier.
Constant belt tension is provided by a tensioner with an eccentric.
