The camshaft seal can be replaced without removing the engine from the vehicle.
The oil seal is behind the camshaft sprocket. In order not to damage the surface of the block head and camshaft, you need to use special tool No. 2085. A description of the oil seal replacement using this tool is given below. If it is not available, use a spatula with a curved end.
Loosen the alternator mounting, move it to the center and remove the V-belt.
Remove the toothed belt guard secured with three bolts.
Turn the crankshaft and set the piston of the 1st cylinder to TDC. Use the V-belt pulley bolts to rotate.
Loosen the toothed belt tensioner (see here) and remove from the camshaft pulley. The belt must be properly secured so that it cannot move on the other toothed pulleys. At the same time, it cannot be overstretched.
Block the camshaft pulley (e.g. using an old belt), unscrew the pulley mounting bolts.
Remove the circlip from the shaft.
Screw a bolt with a washer into the shaft neck so that it protrudes 15 mm.
Get special tool 2085 (see fig. 62) and unscrew the inner part A two turns (about 3 mm). Lock bolt B in this position.
Lubricate the threaded head of the fixture and put it on the shaft until it stops against the stuffing box. Carefully screw the tool into the gland.
Loosen bolt B and screw in inner part A until the oil seal is removed.
Secure the tool in a vise and remove the seal with pliers.
