- Remove the cover (casings) toothed belt.
- Remove the valve cover.
Turn the flywheel so that the piston of the 1st cylinder is at TDC, i.e. so that both valves of the 1st cylinder are closed.
Now it is impossible to turn either the crankshaft or the intermediate shaft. Loosen the tension of the toothed belt and remove it only from the top, from the crankshaft pulley (see here).
If the camshaft pulley is to be removed, then it is necessary to block it with a rod inserted through the hole and unscrew the fixing bolts. Otherwise, the pulley is removed after the shaft has been removed.
Gradually loosen and unscrew the nuts securing the bearing caps 1, 3 and 5 (pic. 219). Remove the covers, leaving only the 2nd and 4th.
Loosen cap nuts evenly «criss-cross», making two turns. Remove covers and take out a camshaft. There should be a valve cover O-ring in cover #1.
Fix the camshaft in a vise and unscrew the bolts of the toothed pulley. Remove the ring, and on the other side of the shaft, remove the oil seal.
Take out the pushers. They cannot be confused and therefore should be marked. It is best to apply risks on the inner surface: on the first pusher - one, on the second two, and so on (see fig. 43). In the case of a mechanism without hydraulic valve lifters, the shims must be laid together with the corresponding tappets.
Check the condition of the camshaft (see here). The order of installation of the camshaft was described here.
