Warning: Good visibility is essential for driving safety, and can only be achieved when all windows are clear of ice, snow and fogging. Therefore, thoroughly familiarize yourself with the controls of the heating and ventilation system, as well as with the techniques for clearing ice and fogging of windows and the cooling mode.

Keys:
- 1 - key to turn on the windshield de-icing mode;
- 9 - "Automatic operation" key;
- 10 - air recirculation mode key;
- 11 - "Fan slower" key and "OFF" key for turning off the entire unit;
- 12 - "Fan faster" key;
- 13 - "Air flow to the upper body" key;
- 14 - "Air flow to the foot area" key;
- 15 - "Cooler" key;
- 16 - "Warmer" key;
- 17 - key for economical mode "ECON" (shutdown of the refrigeration unit);
- 18 - cabin temperature sensor:
- a - on left-hand drive vehicles,
- b - on right-hand drive vehicles.
Display fields:
- 2 - indication of the fan mode stage;
- 3 - outside temperature display;
- 4 - windshield de-icing mode indication;
- 5 - indication of air recirculation mode;
- 6 - indication of air flow direction;
- 7 - indication of the set air temperature in the cabin;
- 8 - AUTO indication (automatic mode), ECON (the refrigeration unit is turned off) or OFF (the whole installation is turned off).
When you press the corresponding keys, readings 2, 7 and 8 change or readings 4, 5 and 6 appear.
Automatic operation mode can be adjusted by all keys.
Recommended parameters for standard operation settings of the unit for all seasons: temperature of approximately 22°C and the AUTO key pressed.
With this setting, a comfortable climate in the cabin is achieved most quickly.
Therefore, this setting should only be changed when it is necessary to satisfy someone's special wishes.
Using the installation
After the ignition is turned on, the unit usually starts working in automatic mode. The display fields show readings 2, 3, 7 and 8.
The system fully automatically maintains the set temperature inside the car.
To do this, the temperature of the air supplied to the passenger compartment and the fan speed are automatically changed (amount of air supplied) and distribution of supplied air.
Automatic adjustment of the unit's operation is provided when solar radiation increases, so any manual adjustment of the heating is unnecessary.
If some deviations from the standard parameters of the automatic operation mode of the unit were entered before the ignition was switched off, the newly set parameters are remembered by the unit. Only 20 minutes after the ignition was switched off is the previously set recirculation mode erased from the memory.
Switching from Celsius to Fahrenheit and vice versa
Press and hold key 17, then press key 9. The display will show the measured temperature value in the corresponding system.
Instructions for using the unit when operating in automatic mode (AUTO)
Desired temperature in the cabin can be set using keys 15 and 16, and this parameter is stored in the installation memory until another value for this parameter is set.
The set temperature in the passenger compartment can be between +18°C (64°F) and +29°C (86°F). The temperature is maintained automatically within this range.
If the temperature selected is below +18°C (64°F), the display field shows "LO". If the temperature is above +29°C (86°F), the display field shows "HI".
At these set extreme values of interior temperature, the unit operates continuously with maximum cooling or heating capacity. Temperature regulation is not performed.
Under certain conditions, the system may do something unexpected. For example, after a cold start of the engine, air is directed predominantly to the footwell for a few seconds. This is done intentionally so that the damp air in the system does not cause fogging of the windows.
Deviations from the standard automatic mode
Operation of the unit in automatic mode creates in almost all cases the best conditions for the well-being of the driver and passengers at all times of the year.
In some cases, however, it becomes necessary to partially change individual functions of the automatic mode using the appropriate keys; at the same time, "Climatronic" still works automatically:
Using keys 11 and 12 you can change fan speed, and thereby increase or decrease the amount of air supplied. This is reflected on the display by an increase or decrease in the number of dashes in the reading 2.
By pressing key 1:
- eCON mode is turned off;
- recirculation mode is turned off;
- you can keep the windshield and side windows free of ice and fogging (direct air from nozzles 4 to the side windows);
- it is possible to increase the efficiency of clearing the windshield of ice and fogging when, for example, new passengers in wet clothes get into the car shortly after the start of the journey.
Pressing key 10 switches on the recirculation mode. Icon 5 appears on the display.
Pressing key 1 switches off the recirculation mode. To resume the recirculation mode, simply press key 10 again.
The air recirculation mode prevents dust or foul-smelling outside air from entering the passenger compartment, for example when driving through a tunnel or in a traffic jam.
If it is necessary to heat or cool the air in the cabin as quickly as possible, the recirculation mode can be selected. In this mode, air is sucked out of the cabin, then heated or cooled.
In the air recirculation mode, smoking is prohibited in the cabin, since the smoke coming from the cabin will settle to some extent in the evaporator of the "Climatronic" unit. This will lead to the fact that subsequently, for a long time, the air passing through the unit will have an unpleasant smell, which can be eliminated with great difficulty and significant costs by replacing the evaporator.
Using keys 13 and 14, the air flow can be directed either to the upper body or to the legs.
Air distribution keys 1, 13 and 14 can also be pressed in various combinations.
Press key 17 (ECON) to turn off refrigeration unitin this mode, automatic regulation of air heating occurs (but without cooling and moisturizing it), which allows you to quickly achieve and constantly maintain the desired temperature inside the car.
Pressing key 1 switches off the ECON mode. To resume operation of the unit in this mode, simply press key 17 again.
Please note that in ECON mode the desired interior temperature cannot be lower than the outside air temperature.
The desired temperature in the cabin You can set it using keys 15 and 16.
The combination of ECON and recirculation modes is only possible if, in ECON mode, you first press key 10 and then key 17 ECON.
Pressing keys 1, 9 or 10 switches off the ECON mode.
By pressing key 11 you can switch off the entire installation. To do this, hold key 11 down until the inscription "OFF" appears in the display field 3. This key should only be used in exceptional cases, for example, if there is a malfunction in the installation.
When there is no longer any need to deviate from the automatic mode parameters, it is imperative to switch the automatic mode back on by pressing key 9 (AUTO).
