Removing
Disconnect the battery ground wire.
Setting the engine crankshaft to the position corresponding to the TDC at the time of ignition for cylinder 1.
Shift the transmission to neutral and apply the handbrake.
Turn the crankshaft clockwise at the center bolt securing the belt pulley to the crankshaft.
Attention: Depending on the car model for turning! motor shaft, a longer socket may be required, e.g. HAZET 880TZ-1S size 3/8". Other ways to turn the crankshaft: engage 4th or 5th gear b move the car, or lift the car from the front and turn the front wheel with the gear engaged.
Turn the crankshaft until the groove on the belt pulley aligns with the arrow on the toothed belt guard -B-. At the same time, the mark on the flywheel in the clutch housing must align with the alignment mark -A-.
Check if the mark on the camshaft sprocket matches the top edge of the cover. Turn the crankshaft 1 turn if necessary.
Remove the high-voltage wires or the cover from the distributor, to do this, press the clamping bracket on one side with a screwdriver.
Disconnect the hose from the vacuum ignition timing controller.
If present, remove plastic cap (stopper) from the clamping bolt at the base of the ignition distributor. The cap is destroyed.
Unscrew the clamping bolt of the distributor base, remove the pressure plate and pull out the ignition distributor.
Attention: Do not change the engine setting with the distributor removed.
Installation
Before installing, check that the engine shaft is in the TDC position for cylinder 1. This means that the marks on the crankshaft pulley and, accordingly, on the flywheel and camshaft gear, must simultaneously match.
In the opening of the ignition distributor, put the drive pin of the oil pump shaft parallel to the crankshaft (longitudinal axis of the engine).
Set the distributor slider so that the mark on the tongue is against the depression on the edge of the distributor housing. To do this, the dust cap must be removed.
Insert the ignition distributor in this position and secure with the clamping plate and bolt. Don't forget to install the sealing ring.
Remove the distributor slider, put on the dust cap and reinstall the slider. By turning slightly in different directions, check whether the slider is firmly installed.
Clean the ignition distributor cap from the inside and install in place, see below in this chapter.
Connect the hose to the vacuum ignition timing controller.
Connect ground wire to battery.
Adjust ignition timing.
