Removing the ignition distributor is only necessary when carrying out major repairs or when disassembling the engine. The breaker contacts are replaced with the distributor installed.
Removal
Using a screwdriver, press the clamps on the distributor cap and remove its cap.
Disconnect the vacuum hose from the ignition distributor.
Disconnect the wires from the ignition distributor.
Loosen the nut securing the ignition distributor bracket to the crankcase. Remove the distributor.
Installation

Set the first cylinder to the position corresponding to the ignition timing. In this case, the spline of the distributor shaft located in the middle is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the engine and is offset in the direction of the belt pulley (see bottom arrow).
Turn the engine crankshaft using the V-belt so that the ignition timing indicator on the belt pulley coincides with the joint of the engine crankcase (see arrow on the right).

When installing the ignition distributor, turn its shaft onto the runner so that the center of the runner contact is directed toward the first cylinder mark located on the distributor body. When installing the ignition distributor, the shaft connecting element is inserted into the distributor drive spline.
Secure the ignition distributor.
Connect the vacuum hose to the distributor, connect the wires to the ignition coil.
Install the breaker contacts.
Adjust the ignition timing.
