It is impossible to set the lever to the "P", "R" and "1" positions by mistake, since this requires pressing the mechanical locking button located on the side of the selector lever handle. In the normal position of the selector, i.e. in the "D" position, all forward gears are engaged automatically depending on the engine load and the speed of movement.

Warning.
Before engaging any gear on a vehicle stationary with the engine running, you must press the brake pedal or apply the parking brake.
If the vehicle is not moving, do not press the accelerator pedal while moving the selector lever to any position,
If, while driving, the selector lever is mistakenly moved to; position "K", you must first release the accelerator pedal, wait for the engine to switch to idle mode, and then engage the desired gear. The engine can only be started in the "N" or "P" position of the selector lever:
For a short stop, for example at a traffic light, it is enough to brake the car to a complete stop, without moving the selector lever to the "N" position during the stop. When holding the car in place with the braking system, the engine should be idling.
Position "P"
When the selector lever is in position "P", the front wheels are automatically locked by the transmission. The lever can be set to this position only after the car has come to a complete stop by pressing the brake pedal and applying the parking brake.
Position "R"
To engage reverse gear, move the selector lever to the "R" position after the vehicle has come to a complete stop using the service brake system and with the engine idling. To engage reverse gear, press the selector lever lock button.
It is prohibited to engage reverse gear while the vehicle is moving forward.
Position "N"
Set the selector lever to this position after the vehicle has come to a complete stop.
Position "D"
In the "D" (drive) position of the selector lever, the car starts moving in 1st gear, then as the speed increases, 2nd and then 3rd gear are automatically engaged. In this position, the selector lever is in one of the three specified gears throughout the entire time the car is moving.
The lower gear is also engaged automatically as the vehicle speed and engine load decrease. In this case, the accelerator pedal is in an intermediate position or in the "full throttle" position.
Position "2"
The car starts moving in 1st gear, then 2nd gear is automatically engaged. The highest 3rd gear is not engaged.
Position "1"
The car starts moving and continues moving in 1st gear. 2nd and 3rd gears are not engaged. This position provides the most effective engine braking of the car on steep descents.
Forced downshifting
By forcibly engaging a lower gear, maximum acceleration is achieved. Press the accelerator pedal all the way down, thereby turning on the forced reverse shift system switch. In this case, if the driving speed is less than 100 km/h, the second gear is immediately engaged, which subsequently ensures the best acceleration of the car.
When, during subsequent acceleration, the engine speed reaches the maximum value for the engaged gear, or the accelerator pedal is released slightly, the forced reverse shift switch takes the inoperative position and the highest gear is automatically engaged.
When driving on mountain serpentines, it is recommended to use the "2" position of the selector lever, rather than the "O" position, in order to better utilize the engine braking effect when driving in 2nd gear. On steep slopes, it is necessary to engage 1st gear in advance in order to use the engine power to the maximum. These rules should be especially observed when towing a trailer.
Checking the oil level
To check the oil level in the automatic transmission housing, place the car on a level surface, set the selector lever to the "N" position, and apply the parking brake. With the engine idling (oil temperature 40-60°C), remove the dipstick (see photo), wipe it with a clean, lint-free cloth, reinsert it, and remove it. The oil level should be between the two marks. If the oil level is insufficient, immediately check the serviceability and tightness of the gearbox.
