Erroneous setting of the lever in position «R», «R» and «1» is not possible, since for this it is necessary to first press the button of the mechanical lock located on the side of the selector lever handle. In the normal position of the selector, i.e. pregnant «D», all forward gears are engaged automatically depending on the engine load and speed.
Warning.
When the vehicle is stationary with the engine running, the brake pedal must be depressed or the parking brake applied before engaging any gear.
If the vehicle is not moving, do not press the accelerator pedal while the selector lever is in any position,
If during the movement the selector lever is mistakenly transferred to; position «TO», you must first release the accelerator pedal, wait for the engine to idle, and then engage the desired gear. The engine can only be started in position «N* or «R» selector lever:
For a short stop, for example, at a traffic light, it is enough to brake the car to a complete stop without moving the selector lever to the position «N» during the stop. When holding the vehicle in place using the brake system, the engine must be idling.
Position «R»
At the position «R» selector lever, the front wheels are automatically locked by the transmission. The lever can only be set to this position after the vehicle has come to a complete stop by depressing the brake pedal and applying the parking brake.
Position «R»
To engage reverse gear, move the selector lever to position «R» after a complete stop of the car using the service brake system and when the engine is idling. To engage reverse gear, press the selector lever release button.
Do not engage reverse gear while the vehicle is moving forward.
Position «N»
Set the selector lever to this position after the vehicle has come to a complete stop.
Position «D»
Pregnant «D» (movement) selector lever, the car starts off in 1st gear, then as the speed increases, 2nd gear is automatically switched on, then 3rd gear. In this position, the selector lever is located during the entire time the vehicle is moving in one of the three indicated gears.
Downshifting also occurs automatically as vehicle speed and engine load decrease. In this case, the accelerator pedal is in an intermediate position or in the position «full throttle».
Position «2»
The car pulls away in 1st gear, then 2nd gear is automatically engaged. The highest third gear does not turn on.
Position «1»
The car pulls away and continues to move in 1st gear. II and III gears are not included. This position provides the most effective engine braking on steep descents.
Forced downshift
Forced downshifting ensures that maximum acceleration is achieved. Press the accelerator pedal all the way down, thereby turning on the switch for the forced reverse shift system. At the same time, if the speed is less than 100 km / h, 2nd gear is immediately engaged, which ensures the best acceleration of the car in the future.
When the subsequent acceleration reaches the maximum speed for the engaged gear, or the accelerator pedal is slightly released, the forced reverse shift switch is in the off position and the highest gear is automatically engaged.
When driving along mountain serpentines, it is recommended to use the position «2» selector lever, not the position «ABOUT», to better use the engine braking effect when driving in 2nd gear. On steep grades, engage 1st gear early to maximize engine power. These rules must be especially observed when towing a trailer.
Checking the oil level
To check the oil level in the crankcase of an automatic gearbox, park the vehicle on a level surface, put the selector lever in position «N», brake the vehicle with the parking brake. When the engine is idling (oil temperature 40-60°С) remove oil dipstick (see photo), wipe it with a clean, lint-free cloth, reinsert and remove it. The oil level must be between the two marks. If the oil level is insufficient, immediately check the condition and tightness of the gearbox.
