Fig. 147. Automatic transmission torque converter drive pulley with parts: 1 - lining washer; 2 - reinforcement washer; 3 - mounting bolt
The automatic transmission torque converter drive pulley is secured with six bolts 3 (Fig. 147) to the crankshaft flange. Between the mounting bolts and the drive pulley there is a reinforcement washer 2, which has a bevel on the outer edge and should be installed with this bevel facing the drive pulley.
Install the drive pulley as follows:
- attach the drive pulley together with the reinforcement washer 2 to the crankshaft flange with six mounting bolts 3, which should be tightened by hand;
- pre-tighten the drive pulley mounting bolts to 30 Nm;
Fig. 148. Measuring the distance between the drive pulley and the cylinder block surface
- measure the distance from the cylinder block to the drive pulley with a caliper (Fig. 148). The resulting value should be between 19.5 and 21.1 mm. If this is not the case, install a lining washer 1 (Fig. 147);
- tighten the mounting bolts to 60 Nm, then tighten them another 90° (a quarter turn).
