To remove the intermediate shaft 8 (pic. 158) remove the engine from the vehicle.
To remove the intermediate shaft, the oil pump drive must be removed, since the pump is driven by the intermediate shaft. After removing the ignition distributor and the drive parts of the gas distribution mechanism, the intermediate shaft becomes accessible, its fastening bolts can be unscrewed and the shaft removed.
The O-ring flange has a return port and must be installed with this in mind. The flange determines the axial clearance of the shaft and must be replaced if the axial clearance is greater than 0.25 mm. The O-ring seals the flange on the side of the cylinder block.
If the stuffing box holder has been unscrewed, then the stuffing box should be replaced with a new one. Installation of the intermediate shaft oil seal is carried out similarly to the installation of the crankshaft front oil seal. Bolts of fastening of the holder of an epiploon at assembly should be tightened by the moment of 25 Н·м.
