Performing a test drive (VW Caddy 3)

The scope of work performed depends on the vehicle configuration and the road situation (a trip in the city or outside the city).

During the test drive, the following parameters should be assessed:

• Engine: power, misfires, idle characteristics, acceleration.
• Clutch: starting from a standstill, pedal effort, smell.
• Gear shifting: ease of shifting, position of gear lever.
• Automatic transmission: control lever position, ignition key shift/lock, shift characteristics, instrument panel display indication.
• Foot and hand brakes: functionality, free play and efficiency, drag when braking, vibration, squealing.
• ABS operation: When applying the brakes with the ABS system, a pulsation should be felt in the brake pedal.
• Steering: functionality, steering wheel play, steering wheel in the middle position when driving straight.
• Sliding sunroof: functionality.
• Radio/radio navigation system: functionality, reception, GALA, noise interference.
• Multifunctional indication (MFA): operability.
• Air conditioner: functionality.
• Straight line movement: sideways movement (on a flat, horizontal road).
• Imbalance: wheels, pivot shafts, cardan shaft.
• Wheel bearings: noise.
• Engine: hot engine starting qualities.
