Useful information

All engines, starting from the 2008 model year, are filled with the low-freezing additive G 12 Plus Plus (purple color). The G 12 Plus Plus additive is mixed with the previous G 11 low-freezing additives (green), G 12 (red) and G 12 Plus (purple color).

G 12 Plus Plus is suitable as a service life extender for use in grey cast iron and aluminium engines and provides optimal engine protection against low temperatures, corrosion, limescale build-up and overheating.

G 12 Plus Plus increases the boiling point and improves heat dissipation.

The proportion of coolant must be at least 40% for freeze protection down to -25°C and must not exceed 60% for freeze protection down to -40°C, since otherwise the freeze protection is weakened again and, in addition, the cooling effect is impaired.

The article is posted on this website VWMANUAL

The freezing point of the coolant must be at least -25°C (in countries with an arctic climate - at least -35°C).

The low-freeze additive G 12 Plus Plus prevents damage, limescale formation and, in addition, increases the boiling point. For this reason, the cooling system, regardless of the time of year, must be filled with a coolant based on a concentrate with anti-corrosion additives,

In tropical climates and under high engine loads, a coolant with a high boiling point plays a significant role in ensuring reliable engine operation.

It is prohibited to add water to the coolant (thus reducing the proportion of concentrate) even in warm seasons or in countries with warm climates. The proportion of the additive to the coolant should be at least 40%.

Check the coolant level and top it up if necessary

The coolant level in the expansion tank should be checked when the engine is cold.

Recommended coolant level for inspection service:
  • The coolant level must be above the Min mark (arrow).
  • If the coolant level is below normal, add the missing amount, mixing in the appropriate proportions.

If the amount of coolant decreases and cannot be caused by its use, it is necessary to determine and eliminate the cause.
