Special tool: not required.
Required consumables:
- Antifreeze for coolant G12 Plus from VW / SEAT (lilac, accurate specification designation G 012 A8F) or other antifreeze marked «according to VW/SEAT-TL-774-F», e.g. Glysantin-Alu-Protect-Premium/G30.
If antifreeze for coolant G12 from VW/SEAT is filled in (red color, exact designation of specification G 012 A8D), then for topping up you can use G12 rot antifreeze or another antifreeze marked «according to VW/SEAT-TL-774-D», eg Glysantin-Alu-Protect/G30.
Note: Purple G12 antifreeze can be mixed with red G12 antifreeze.
- Pure soft water.
Checking/topping up coolant
Safety instructions
When the engine is hot, open the expansion tank cap carefully. Risk of burns from steam! Place a cloth over the lid before opening. Open the cover only when the coolant temperature is below +90°C.
- With a cold engine (at a coolant temperature of approximately +20°C) The coolant level must be between the MAX and MIN·marks on the expansion tank of the cooling system. When the engine is warm, the coolant level should be slightly above the MAX mark.
- To avoid engine damage, fill large quantities of cold coolant only when the engine is cold.
Attention: If there is no antifreeze G12 Plus or G12 red, or antifreeze of VW / SEAT-TL-774-F / D specifications, do not fill in any other antifreeze, but replenish the cooling system with clean water. As soon as possible, prepare a coolant with the required concentration of antifreeze of the prescribed specification.
- When opening the cap of the expansion tank, first turn only slightly to relieve excess pressure. After that, unscrew the cover to the end and remove.
- If the coolant level drops in a short time, visually check the cooling system for leaks.
