Necessary materials:
- To replenish the level, use only engine oils, approved for use by VW/SEAT.
Examination
- Warm up the engine while driving and park the car on a level surface.
- After stopping the engine, pause for about 3 minutes to allow the oil to drain into the engine sump.
- Remove the dipstick and wipe it with a clean cloth.
- Then insert the dipstick until it stops and remove it again.
- The oil level is OK if it is in zone -B- on the dipstick. If the oil level is in zone -C-, it is necessary to replenish the level to zone -B-. If the oil level is in zone -A-, no oil needs to be added.
Attention: If too much oil has been poured into the engine (above zone -A-), its excess must be sucked off, otherwise the engine seals and the catalytic converter may be damaged.
- When the engine is heavily loaded, such as long motorway trips in the summer, when driving with a trailer or when driving on mountain roads, the oil level should be on the dipstick in the upper part of zone -B-.
- Filling the engine with engine oil is carried out through the filler neck in the cylinder head cover. When topping up, use regular oil, do not use any oil additives, see section «Lubrication system».
- Insert the dipstick and tighten the oil filler cap.
