Engine and exhaust system (VW Polo 4)

In accordance with the maintenance chart, the following work must be performed at certain intervals:

• Engine/engine compartment: visual inspection of connections for tightness.
• Engine: engine oil change, oil filter change.
• Cooling and heating systems: checking the fluid level, checking the concentration of antifreeze. Visual inspection of the radiator for leaks and external contamination.
• Diesel engine: Removing water from the fuel filter/replacing the fuel filter.
• Engine air filter: replacing the filter element, cleaning the filter housing.
• Poly V-belt: check condition, replace if signs of wear are detected.
• Exhaust system: visually inspect for damage, leaks and loose fasteners.
• Spark plugs: replacement.
• 1.4L petrol engine: Check timing belt for damage. If necessary replace toothed belt.
• Diesel engine: toothed belt replacement. Diesel engine ASY: additionally replaced guide roller (spare part no. 038 109 244).
• Study of exhaust gas composition; reading registered fault codes (at service stations).
