Checking the coolant level (VW Passat B4)

Check the coolant level on a cold engine every 1000 km. The coolant level should be between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks on the expansion tank (Fig. 34).



Do not add cold water to a hot engine. Use only a mixture of distilled water and antifreeze for temperatures down to -35°C.

WARNING: Do not open the expansion tank cap when the engine is hot. If any work needs to be done on a hot engine, carefully unscrew the expansion tank cap, releasing the pressure gradually.
