Engine oil change (VW Passat B4)

Oil should be changed every 15,000 km in petrol engines and 7,500 km in diesel engines. It is best to drain used oil on a hot or warm engine. If the car is used mainly in urban conditions or in dusty areas, the oil should be changed more often.

Remove the oil filler plug.

Unscrew the engine crankcase oil drain plug (Fig. 33) and drain the used oil.



Without waiting for the last drop of oil to fall, screw in and tighten the oil drain plug with a new sealing gasket.

Fill the engine with fresh oil so that its level does not exceed the "MAX" mark.

Replace the oil filter every time you change the oil.
