Refer to the owner's manual for information on when to change the engine oil. The basic rule is that the oil should be changed at least once every six months. At the same time, the oil filter should also be changed, but at least once a year.
Change engine oil in the following order:
- warm up the engine;

- install the car on a flyover, lift, inspection ditch, or with the front wheels on special stands (pic. 179);
- turn off the engine and apply the parking brake;
Attention! When carrying out work under the car, never leave the raised car only on a car jack, secure yourself with jack stands, etc.
Attention! Never rest the vehicle jack against the oil pan, transmission, subframe or rear axle.
- remove the engine crankcase guard;
- place a container for collecting used oil under the drain plug;

Location of the oil cooler, oil filter, dipstick and other elements on the side of the 2.0-liter engine: 1 - oil filler cap; 2 - sealing ring; 3 - oil dipstick; 4 - guide tube of the oil dipstick; 5 - O-shaped sealing ring; 6 - oil pressure switch at 25 kPa; 7 - oil pressure switch at 180 kPa; 8 - plug or temperature switch; 9 - bolt, 25 Nm; 10 - base of the oil filter; 11 - gasket; 12 - O-ring; 13 - oil cooler; 14 - nut, 25 Nm; 15 - oil filter
- unscrew the screw drain plug in the oil pan and drain the used oil into a container;
Note. To completely drain the old oil, you need to wait a while. Opening the filler cap 1 (pic. 180) or by pulling out the oil dipstick 3, you can speed up the process of draining the old oil.
Attention! Hot engine oil can cause burns. It is recommended to drain the old oil while it is still warm, but do not do this when the engine is hot.
Note. Dispose of old engine oil in accordance with environmental regulations.
- thoroughly clean the drain plug and check the condition of the sealing ring;
Pic. 30. The sequence of tightening the cylinder head bolts. Unscrewing the bolts is carried out in reverse order
- after the old oil has completely drained, wrap the drain plug and tighten it with a torque of 30 Nm;
- conduct an express analysis of the drained engine oil:
- if between the thumb and forefinger, during friction, the presence of grains or metal particles in the drained oil is felt, then the bearings are most likely damaged;
- drops of water or a yellowish color in the oil indicate a leak in the cylinder head gasket;
- too dark oil color indicates that the oil should have been replaced;
- fill with new engine oil according to the manufacturer's requirements to the required level in accordance with the dipstick readings. Oil should be poured slowly, periodically checking its level, however, you must always wait for some time so that the oil can drain into the oil sump;
- screw on the filler cap and run the engine for a few minutes. This will distribute the oil in the engine (the filter will be filled);
- stop the engine and wait a while so that the oil can drain into the oil sump;
- check the oil level with the dipstick. You may need to top up some oil because it fills up the oil filter.
