Check V-ribbed belt (1) for the following defects:
- carrier layer breaks (tears, damage to the cord, breaks in the cross section),
- bundles (top layer, cord threads),
- breakouts of the carrier layer,
- detachment of cord threads at the edges,
- edge wear (material erosion, thread separation, edge hardening (vitreous surface), surface cracks),
- traces of oil and grease.
If these signs are found, the V-ribbed belt must be replaced. In this way, failure of the belt and, consequently, malfunctions can be avoided. Replacing the V-ribbed belt is a service decision.
