The poly V-belt drives all engine units from the crankshaft pulley or from the vibration damper. It is located around the units at the front of the engine (Fig. 194).

The poly V-belt has ribs and a flat contact surface. The tensioner ensures that the poly V-belt has the required tension at all times.

To remove the poly V-belt, loosen the tensioner by screwing the M8 screw (Fig. 195) into hole "A". The tensioner will move away from the drive belt and the belt will loosen, after which it can be removed.

Before removing the poly V-belt, perform the following preparatory work:

The original information is posted on the resource: VWMANUAL.ru
  • remove the upper part of the air filter together with the flow meter;
  • remove the solenoid valve with the retaining ring from the lower part of the air cleaner and remove the lower part of the air cleaner.

Installing the belt: Place it on the middle of all the running pulleys and slowly unscrew the tensioner screw. This will cause the tensioner to press on the belt, which will provide the belt with the required tension.

After installing the belt, start the engine and let it run for a while. Check that the belt is installed correctly and works well.

If there is an air conditioner, two poly V-belts are installed, one of them is for driving the compressor.
