Attention: If the pump is defective, it can be replaced with a new one, as well as the entire assembly, since its functioning is very important for the correct operation of the injection system.
1. Apply the handbrake, use a jack to raise and place the rear of the car on a stand, and disconnect the wire clamp to the battery ground.
2. Disconnect plug 2 from the front of the pump (pic. 3.5).
Pic. 3.5. fuel injection pump
1 - fuel filter; 2 - plug for connecting electrical wires; 3 - pump tank; 4 - fuel pump.
3. An appropriate container must be placed under the pump reservoir to collect fuel that may leak during pump removal.
4. Unscrew the three bolts securing the pump to the pump tank and remove the supporting wheel, pump and sealing ring. Care must be taken to ensure that no debris enters the pump or tank - this is very important.
5. Installation is made in sequence, return to removal. At the same time, we must not forget about installing a new sealing ring between the pump and the tank.
Caution: It must be remembered that the vane impeller and brush set of the pump motor actually work in the fuel that is inside it. Fuel is also a cooling, lubricating and anti-sparking factor. For this reason, the pump should not operate if there is no fuel inside it, otherwise it will overheat and may wear out and ignite.
6. The fuel filter is mounted on the side of the pump tank. To remove the filter, unscrew and remove the fuel pipe connections at both ends of the filter. Each spectacle connection has one sealing washer on both sides. Loosen the bolt on the clamp securing the filter to the pump tank and remove the filter.
7. Installation is made in sequence, return to removal. When installing the fuel filter, make sure that the arrow on the filter points in the direction of fuel flow.
