Electric Fuel Pump — General Information (VW Sharan 1)

The elastically suspended submersible fuel pump is installed directly in the tank, in its lower part, and is surrounded by a reservoir with a mesh, thanks to which even strongly splashing fuel can be supplied. The pump supplies fuel under pressure from the fuel tank through the fuel filter to the fuel distribution line of the injectors. Excess fuel returns to the gas tank through the drain hose. The electric fuel pump is switched on by the ECU via a relay when the ignition is turned on or the ignition key is set from the "Off" position to the "Starter" position.
