Checking the mass air flow sensor (VW Sharan 1)

You can check whether the mass air flow sensor is receiving electricity and whether it is sending data to the ECU. To do this, you need to have experience measuring electrical parameters.

If the mass air flow sensor fails the test, you need to contact a service station where additional diagnostics will be performed. To check the mass air flow sensor, you will need a control diode lamp.

Check the mass air flow sensor in the following order:

• disconnect the MAF sensor connector;

• connect the legs of the control LED lamp to terminals "1" and "4" of the plug connector (Fig. 204);
• with the help of an assistant, start the engine. If the lamp lights up, then electric current is flowing to the mass air flow sensor.

Note: Other faults of the mass air flow sensor can be identified and eliminated only with the presence of special devices from the company "Volkswagen".
