Check conditions: battery must be fully charged (12V), fuel filter in perfect condition.
1. Check fuse 18 for the fuel pump. Replace defective fuse.
2. Switch off the ignition, the fuel pump should run for a short time. With ambient noise, a hearing test requires an assistant near the fuel pump.
3. If the pump does not work, connect the remote control.
4. Press the remote control switch. If the pump now starts, check the fuel pump relay.
5. If the fuel pump does not start, cut the carpet at the perforations to the right of the handbrake lever.
6. Unscrew the guard of the fuel level sensor (fuel tank sensor) and fuel pump.
7. Disconnect the plug connection between the fuel sensor and the fuel pump by prying up the lateral locking tabs with a small screwdriver.
8. Connect an LED indicator or a voltmeter to both outer pins of the plug.
9. Press the remote control switch. The measuring device should show a battery voltage of about 12 V, otherwise find it in the wiring diagram and repair the open circuit.
10. If battery voltage is displayed, remove the fuel gauge.
11. Check for good contact and reliability of the electrical wiring connection between the flange and the fuel pump. Check the electrical wiring from the sensor housing to the fuel pump with an ohmmeter and additional wires, if necessary, eliminate the break.
12. If there is no open, replace the fuel pump.
13. Install the fuel sensor, connect the wiring.
