Fuel distributor (VW Golf 2)

The fuel distributor 3 is mounted on the air flow meter 2 and is controlled by the vertical movement of the plate of the flow meter 2. A spool valve is switched on, which moves vertically in a sleeve having vertical cuts along the perimeter corresponding to the number of engine cylinders. The spool valve is adjusted to a pressure acting on its upper end, equivalent to the pressure of the air flow meter, which is applied by means of a piston to the lower end of the valve. When the spool valve rises or falls, it opens a greater or lesser length of the measuring cut, thus controlling the volume of fuel supplied to each injector.

Each measuring section has a differential pressure valve that ensures equal pressure on both sides of the section. Since the open length of the section does not affect the amount of pressure drop across the section, the amount of fuel flowing depends only on the open surface of the sections.
