The following paragraphs describe the system and its various components, as well as the work that can be done to check individual parts, but does not describe how to remove and repair components, since repair is not possible.
The system measures the amount of air entering the engine and determines the amount of fuel required to mix with this air to obtain the correct air mixture for the given engine operating conditions. Fuel is sprayed continuously through the injector jet into the inlet of each cylinder. A mixture of fuel and air is drawn into the cylinder when the inlet valves open.
