Cold engine start valve (VW Golf 2)

The cold engine start valve 17 is installed in the drive manifold and injects an additional amount of fuel into the manifold during cold engine start. The valve is activated by a time switch 18 located in the engine cooling system. The thermal time switch activates the valve for a time depending on the coolant temperature. The higher the temperature, the faster and less the valve operates. The switch does not supply power to the valve if the coolant temperature is high enough.
