Replacing the air filter insert (VW Golf 2)

1. Release the spring clips securing the air cleaner cover and remove the cover.

2. Remove the filter insert from the housing.

3. To clean the filter insert, select a location away from the vehicle and then beat it to remove dust and dirt. If necessary, use a soft brush to clean the insert from the outside or blow the insert with air under very low pressure, directing the air flow from inside the insert to the outside.

4. Clean the inside surface of the filter cover.

5. Install the insert into the filter housing and secure the cover by tightening the spring clamps.
