1. Disconnect the voltage wire from the ignition distributor and connect it to ground.
2. With the engine cold, disconnect the electrical connection plug from the heater valve.
3. Connect a voltage meter to the plug ends of the electrical connection of the heating valve and turn off the starter. The voltage at the ends must be at least 11.5 V.
4. Turn off the ignition, and connect a thermometer to the ends of the heating valve seat. If the device does not show a resistance of 20-26 ohms, this indicates damage to the heater coil and the need to install a new valve.
