1. Disconnect the voltage wire from the ignition distributor and connect it to ground.
2. When the engine is cold, disconnect the electrical connector plug from the heating valve.
3. Connect a voltmeter to the ends of the plug of the electrical connection of the heating valve and turn off the starter. The voltage at the ends should be at least 11.5 V.
4. Turn off the ignition and connect an ohmmeter to the ends of the heating valve socket. If the device does not show a resistance of 20-26 Ohms, this indicates damage to the heating coil and the need to install a new valve.
