Note: Precise adjustment of the idle mixture composition can only be made using a fuel analyzer. The idle exhaust gas composition adjustment bolt 45 changes the height of the fuel distributor piston relative to the air flow control plate in the air flow meter. The screw is accessible after removing the blocking plug between the air duct outlet and the fuel distributor on the air flow meter housing. Although it is recommended to use a special tool to perform this adjustment, it can be done with a long thin screwdriver.
1. The engine should operate under the same conditions as when adjusting the idle speed. The rotation speed should be normal.
2. Connect the exhaust gas analyzer to the exhaust pipe according to the analyzer manufacturer's instructions and calculate the carbon monoxide content in the exhaust gas.
3. To increase the carbon monoxide content in the exhaust, turn the adjusting bolt clockwise; to decrease it, turn it counterclockwise. Do not press the adjusting bolt during adjustment, as this may cause the flow meter sensor plate to move and affect the adjustment.
4. Remove the tool and increase the engine speed briefly.
5. Recheck the carbon monoxide adjustment.
Caution: If the tool used to turn the mixture adjustment screw is not removed before accelerating the engine, it may become pinched and bent.
6. Recheck the idle speed and adjust it if necessary.
7. If after connecting the flexible air bleed hose from the main crankcase of the engine the carbon monoxide content in the exhaust gases increases, this indicates that the oil is diluted with fuel and that the oil needs to be changed. If changing the oil is not possible, the second way to remove oil from the fuel is to drive the car fast for a long time. The greater the gaps between the piston and the cylinder, the greater the fuel content in the oil, which indicates engine wear.
