If the engine is damaged in the area of the cylinder head, camshaft and valves, it is logical to carry out self-repair.
If the parts in the area of the crank mechanism and the engine block are damaged and worn out, then laborious repair work must be carried out. Cylinder resurfacing and piston replacement under high load are almost always unavoidable. This work is carried out by a repair shop. However, you can dismantle yourself. disassemble the engine.
It can often be rational to assemble a new engine by replacing the engine block. crankshaft and pistons. The cylinder head, fuel pump, water pump, etc. are taken from the old unit.
It is advisable to completely replace the engine if the old one worked very hard and all its parts are very worn out. It will be expensive, but for a long time there is no need to worry. Beneficial only if the body is in good condition.
Instruction. Sudden, significant mid-top knock (speed-dependent) is not yet a signal of engine damage. Perhaps it was created by the nozzle needles. The spring-loaded injector needle, which is normally lifted by fuel pressure during injection and thus opens the injection port, is stuck in this position. Then the engine does not receive enough fuel, noise is created. This harmless defect may be due to the fact. that dirt got into the injection system (into pipelines). Dirt particles interfere with the nozzle needle. The one who pays attention to it. can fix the defect. With the clutch pedal depressed, briefly and strongly "give gas". Excess fuel may wash out the needles, the defect will be eliminated. But if foreign bodies cannot be removed in this way, the nozzle should be cleaned. To determine which injector we are talking about, it is necessary to unscrew the union nuts of the injectors one by one and tighten them again. Where the noise is reduced when unscrewing, and there is "troublemaker".
Cylinder head gasket defects
hallmark | Reason for the feature |
The coolant level keeps dropping slowly | Coolant enters the combustion chambers in very small quantities. This phenomenon can be observed without any signs for a long time. Another reason: leakage of the cooling system |
Significant loss of coolant. Behind the car, with the engine running, was a white curtain of exhaust gases | The coolant penetrates in a significant amount into the combustion chamber, where it evaporates and escapes to the outside in the form of a white curtain |
Air bubbles rise from the open expansion tank or a large amount of coolant gurgles out when the cap is opened | Combustion products have entered the cooling system. After the exit of the exhaust gases from the opening of the expansion tank, there is a smell of burning |
Black or iridescent colors appear on the surface of the coolant in the colors of the rainbow | Oil from the lubrication system entered the cooling system |
When the dipstick is removed, the emulsion looks gray or brown, or the oil may be riddled with water bubbles | Coolant has entered the lubrication system. Caution: Water entering the engine oil can cause sealing of the cylinder head. Do not let the engine enter: deliver the car to the repair shop |
