Checking the intake manifold switch (VW Passat B6)

Perform the check only if the torque is insufficient, i.e. if there is insufficient elasticity or insufficient traction.

Check the intake manifold sequential changeover valve using tester A in "Guided Fault Finding" mode.

If the intake manifold changeover valve is normal, perform the following checks

Verification procedure

Remove the vacuum actuator cover.

Start the engine and let it idle. The vacuum actuator has retracted.

The assistant should sharply press the accelerator pedal. Watch the vacuum drive of the intake manifold switching - it should switch.

If the shift does not work as described above, check the vacuum system for leaks, including the vacuum receiver on the intake manifold.

Check the ease of movement of the switching mechanism by pulling the drive rod by hand.

Check that the vacuum lines are connected correctly.

Check vacuum hoses for porosity.

Disconnect the vacuum hose to the intake manifold switch vacuum actuator from the intake manifold switch valve 1.



Connect a hand vacuum pump to the intake manifold vacuum actuator (fig. 2.236).



Press the hand vacuum pump several times. The vacuum drive rod should move.

If the intake manifold shift actuator does not move

Replace the vacuum actuator.
