Removal and installation a poly V-belt (VW Passat B6)

Removal

Remove the crankcase guard.

Mark the direction of rotation of the poly V-belt.

To loosen the poly V-belt, turn the tensioner using a 16 mm spanner in the direction (Fig. 2.13).

Secure the tensioner with Allen key 3.

Remove the poly V-belt.

Installation

First, place the poly V-belt on the crankshaft pulley. Lastly, tighten the belt onto the tension roller.

Further installation is carried out in reverse order.

Note: Before installing the poly V-belt, check that all components are securely fastened (generator, air conditioning compressor).

Note: When installing the poly V-belt, check the direction of travel and the correct fit of the belt on the belt drive pulleys.

Start the engine and check the belt operation.
