Checking and adjusting the clearances in the valve drive mechanism must be carried out at a coolant temperature above 35°C.

Remove the cylinder head cover, being careful not to damage the gasket.

Turn the crankshaft with a wrench on the crankshaft toothed pulley mounting bolt so that the intake and exhaust cams of the adjustable cylinder are facing upward in the same position.

Warning: Do not turn the crankshaft by the camshaft pulley mounting bolt to avoid damaging the timing belt.

In this position, check the gaps between the lever and the back of the camshaft cam with a flat feeler gauge. To adjust the gap, turn the self-locking adjusting bolt with a ball head with a key until the required gap is set using the feeler gauge.

Each time turning the crankshaft to the position for adjusting the thermal clearances of the valves, adjust the clearances of the remaining valves.

Clearances in the valve drive mechanism

Normal clearance between the lever and the back of the camshaft cam, measured with a feeler gauge, on a cold engine (after renovation) is 0.15 mm for intake valves and 0.25 mm for exhaust valves, on a hot engine - 0.20 and 0.30 mm, respectively.
